Sero-X shows efficacy against egg lay and 1st – 3rd instar larvae of cotton boll and native budworms (Helicoverpa spp); adults and nymphs of green mirids (Creontiades dilutus); adults and nymphs of yellow mirid (Campylomma liebknechti); first instar nymphs of green vegetable bugs (Nezara viridula) and adults and nymphs of silverleaf whiteflies (Bemesia tabaci). The product has shown to have minimal effect on predatory insect adults.
Sero-X works in three ways to control the pests in crops:
- Direct Toxicity : soft bodied-small larvae and nymphs will be killed directly when in contact with the semio-chemical.
- Anti-feedant: The presence of the residues of Sero-X semio-chemical on treated plants deter pest feeding. Pests chose to starve rather than eat a crop treated with Sero-X
- Ovi-position Deterrent: The presence of the residues of Sero-X semio-chemical on treated plants can deter pest egg lay. Pests may avoid landing, or laying eggs on areas treated with Sero-X.
With these three modes of action the likely-hood of resistance developing amongst target pests would seem to be highly unlikely.
